2024 has been a year of many achievements, consolidation and reorganization for Wikimedia Colombia. We would like to share with you our 2024 Management Report, a document that summarizes our impact on the country, as well as reflecting the collaborative spirit and forward-looking vision that guides our work.
We close cycles, we open new roads
Commemorating the fifth anniversary of Wikimedia Colombia is a milestone that undoubtedly invites us to reflect on the road we have traveled and project ourselves to undertake new challenges. Since our consolidation, we have worked to strengthen free knowledge in Colombia, promoting educational, cultural and community projects that bring more people to Wikimedia platforms.
One of the great learnings of the journey has been the transition to project-based work, a strategy that has allowed us to focus on key initiatives such as Reading and writing Wikipedia in the classroom and Dignification, both with a significant impact on educational communities and the historical memory of the country. Giving another place to Wikimedia Colombia: at the service of the communities and challenges of their territories.
A year in numbers
In summary, we had more than 2400 participants in our activities, we added more than 400 new users to the Wikimedia platforms and with their collaboration we generated more than 4389 pages of content. We also strengthened our alliances, consolidating a network of collaboration and work with more than 128 organizations and institutions inside and outside Colombia.
These are just some of the figures that show us that free knowledge continues to grow in our country and that more and more people are joining this collective mission. You can see the impact of our work in figures and numbers on this board.
Wikimedia Colombia Grows: Our strategic plan
December 2024 marked the closing of our Wikimedia Colombia Grows strategy, a plan that allowed us to expand our presence in the country, connect with diverse communities and consolidate our position in the Wikimedia ecosystem in the region. We are not finished, it is the beginning of new ways of narrating, designing and dreaming: we will continue to build strategies that respond to the challenges of access and democratization of information, and the unequal access to education, technology and information. Our next steps in these three years will be guided by the Dreamsign Possible Futures strategy.
A future filled with possibilities
2025 is projected to be a year of new opportunities. We will host the EduWikiConf 2025, an international event that serves as a platform to share work experiences in the Wikimedia Education space, and that will bring together leaders of the Wikimedia movement in Bogota, so we will continue to strengthen our partnerships and projects to continue making free knowledge a pillar of social transformation.
We want to thank all the people who have been part of the process: volunteers, allies, communities and participantes who believe in the power of shared, free and open knowledge.
